As many people who are familiar with my work know, my mother was a great source of inspiration to me, both directly and indirectly. She died in London on December 18th at the age of 91, and I will miss her daily. However, I am so grateful for the drive to create she gave me, and proud of her for everything she achieved, not the least the exquisite modern felts she taught herself to make at the age of 89.
Going through her papers in the last few days of her life, I came across these photos from her time creating rugs in Sermoneta, Italy, a time we spoke of often.

Here she is in her Sermoneta workshop and below, with her girls. |
