Take A Seat at IFDA

I'm happy to be a part of this exciting event, Take A Seat, presented by the International Furnishings and Design Association. IFDA chapters in Japan, California and New York will hold an international, simultaneous design event to display chairs made or decorated by industry professionals and students who have up-cycled existing chairs or materials into one-of-a-kind works of art. These chairs become art projects or sculptures in some cases while others can still be used as a furniture piece.

The very talented Mary Little, of bius, using our Hand Dipped Ombre Alpaca Fabric, designed the Martha Chair, a Chair to Wear. She says, "Two threads I've longed to weave together: a frame from the historic collection of master upholsterer Al Mario and the beautiful fabrics of Rosemary Hallgarten. Inspired by 1950's couture evening dresses, my thoughts were of a luxurious sensation, and of how glamorous you could look wrapped in an Alpaca shawl. My very special thanks to Al Mario and Rosemary Hallgarten who have been hugely generous by donating the Martha Washington frame and the Hand Dipped Ombre Alpaca, and in the process enabling me the opportunity to develop this project." You're so welcome, Mary!
