Yayoi Kusama

I am not the biggest polka dot fan, but I can't help but admire the body of work of artist and avant-garde performer, Yayoi Kusama.  Here she is at 83 in the window of the Louis Vuitton store in NY, still creating, astounding and inspiring.

Andra Birkerts

One of my favorite designers is Boston based Andra Birkerts.  She uses the most imaginative combination of colors and textures in everything she touches.  These chairs use my Foam Alpaca Boucle Fabric in a custom combination of Persimmon and Oatmeal.

Clear is the New Clever

I went to a really interesting film premier last night at the beautiful Times Center in New York.  The Naked Brand is a movie by, amongst others, the breathtakingly energetic Jeff Rosenblum, who happens to be the husband of my friend and interior designer, Jena Marchione.

You will hear about this entertaining and thought provoking movie for sure. It examines what it means to be a successful brand in this new ("new" for those of us over 30!) age of transparent and immediate consumer access to information. While focusing on large corporations, I think it's essential message is that brands are now defined by what they do rather than what they say. Being transparent and honest with consumers vs. creating a curtain of pretty but shallow fizz through huge advertising campaigns is a valuable trend for all of us. The movie highlights how, more than ever, products with integrity combined with great customer service are the ones that lead the way today and into the future. I certainly try to make these two attributes the cornerstones of my business!
